Grand Teton National Park
A panoramic image of Grand Teton NP stitched together from 15 images with lots of filters applied to it. It was hard getting the atmospheric color to be closer to right.

A cool shot of a bunch of different lichens on a low hanging tree branch. Taken in the White Mountains of Arizona.
Cloudscape Pahrump Nevada

A picture taken many years ago of a friend of mine, Jasmine.
The Best Way To Do A Selfie
This is the best way to do a selfie. Find the nearest car and shoot into one of the side rear view mirrors. I'm looking hip with my sun faded hair. Taken in Pahrump, NV.

Suzuki Wheelie
A bunch of hooligans like to get together at a bike shop in Mandan, ND to do a bunch of stunts while hopefully not wrecking their bike. I took a few, but this one turned out neat.

Saguaro Cactus
During one of my many hikes through Arizona, I snapped this picture looking up a saguaro cactus. These are pretty neat cacti and flower from the ends of their stalks. These suckers are everywhere around Phoenix, AZ.
Blooming Cholla
A picture of a blooming cholla taken somewhere north of Phoenix, AZ in the Tonto National Forest. Pretty neat area to hike through, and surprisingly full of life for it being a desert.
Bonsai Tree
Horsetail
Bonsai Tree
Skeleton
A cholla skeleton that was baking in the desert sun. Tonto National Forest north of Phoenix, AZ.
Badlands National Park
While I was doing a land cover survey for NLCD working for the USFWS, I went through the Badlands National Park a couple times in South Dakota. It had just rained and the soil was still just damp enough for the colors to really pop out.
It's a really beautiful area. I can't wait to get back there.

Green River Basin Canyonlands National Park, Utah
This image is probably shot a thousand times a day. The shot is taken right off of a lookout point. It's such an amazing display of the canyon. Almost like a mini Grand Canyon. There are lots of trails around canyonlands for off road vehicle travel. Someday I hope to get back there with a capable vehicle and get some really good pictures.
Grouse at Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge
I took a summer job at Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge near Pingree, ND doing belt transect work for the USFWS. It was a great job and I learned so much about the prairie ecosystem! Arrowwood setup a blind near some grouse mating areas, and it was open to the public. I went there with some coworkers a few times and got some great pictures, like this one. It was a bad crop, but I just didn't have a long enough lens at the time.

Purple Flower
Normally I would painstakingly identify this picture, but because it's going to bother me, I'm just going to leave it as unclassified. It's a nice purple flower of unknown location and type. Kept on here because it's pretty!
I Had Long Hair When I Was Younger
Checkout the flashback to the past. Holding Martini, Marcelo's chihuahua. Picture taken while I was working at the Desert Studies Center. 17th picture taken with the Canon 30D.

Breeding Pair of Mallard Ducks
The Lake Tuende at the Desert Studies Center attracted lots of waterfowl. There wasn't much water around (probably within 100mi), so quite a few of interesting birds ended up at the preserve.
Mountain Sheep
Another image taken at the Desert Studies Center. I took a ton of pictures when I was there because I had just gotten myself the professional camera. A brand new Canon 30D.
These sheep were really hard to spot, and rarely came within viewing distance. I felt special getting to see them a couple times during the few months I was at Zzyzx.
Collard Lizard
A collard lizard sitting on a rock in the Mojave desert. Taken near Zzyzx, CA.
Mammoth Springs Yellowstone National Park
A panoramic of two images of the Mammoth Springs just inside the entrance to Yellowstone National Park. I love this park and can't wait to get back there again.
Jason at the Desert Studies Center
A picture of my herpatologist best friend at the Desert Studies Center. He's showing off how big something is? Squishing the desert studies center between his fingers? Who knows, but it turns out to be a good portrait.
Farm Building with Serendipitous Bird Shot
I took a couple pictures of an agricultural building near a Mohave Tui Chub reserve pond in California. It just so happens I caught a bird at the perfect time for this photograph.
Eric the Cook at Desert Studies Center
I don't even remember taking this shot, but it turned out so well. I remember he played the guitar well, and sneaked me bread from the kitchen.
Leopard Lizard
While out with Jason on our lizard finding quests, we came across a rarer to find specimen. We kept him to take pictures of the next day, but the skin darkened to a point where it was not really photographable. The air temperature was too low in house for it, so we released it onto a sunny rock. It was quite happy to have some heat again. Lovely specimen.
Random Falls in Zion National Park
I took a trip to Zion National Park in the spring one year, and it was amazing. Number one recommended National Park for photography and hiking.
Hiking Zion National Park
There are going to be several pictures ascending the Angel's Landing trail at Zion National Park. It was the coolest hike I have done, ever.
Dog Face
Sometimes the camera will not autofocus where you want it to, but just because the image is out of focus, or the subject isn't in the focal plane, you can get an interesting picture. I really like this one because I see this type of thing quite often in my life. My dogs love to come and lick or jump up at my face. Woof.
Zion National Park
This was an attempt at capturing an image with a pretty high depth of field with many focal planes to worry about, and hopefully It would be interesting because of the different colors and textures on each rock face. I think it turned out pretty well.

Hiking Zion National Park
Here are some prickly pear cactus, which weren't all that common in Zion NP. These cute little plants were just facing into the sun, warming their little pear shaped appendages.
Zion National Park Trail
Zion is a really amazing park. It offers up many different ecosystems depending on what elevation you are at. We hiked into some gorgeous areas with this being one of them.
Zion National Park Erosion
Some neat sandstone evidence of water erosion in one of the canyons. I bet it's pretty incredible to see the water coming down one of these.
Angels Landing - Zion National Park
This is the view awaiting you a top the 2mi Angels Landing hike. Easily the most stunning hike I have ever done. It's going to be pretty hard to beat. Please, during your lifetime, do this hike!
Angels Landing - Leaving the perch at the top
What in incredible hike. I could have stayed up there for days. Here's a look going back down the trail. There are some very easy climbing points, but everything is guided by a hefty chain.
Angels Landing - Half Way There
This is a view from about half way up the trail to Angels Landing. Zion NP offers some of the most amazing scenes. This is a bucket list hike. Do it!
Angels Landing - Zion NP
Here's a view going towards the end of the Angels Landing hiking trail. It isn't for the faint of heart. I really want to do this hike again. It was incredible
A Mountain Vista in Zion NP
Zion National Park contains the most beautiful rock formations of anywhere I have ever been. Take in the beauty.
Drippy Rock at Zion National Park
While at Zion NP, you can get to some really neat areas where the water is flowing over the top of you. This is the case here. The sun is blowing out some of the mountain details, but the water drops look stunning framed by such beauty.
Capitol Reef National Park, Utah
Some enormously tall canyons zigzag through Capitol Reef National Park in Southern Utah. Lots of interesting hiking here, and even Fremont Petroglyphs. My buddy is hiking in front of me for scale.
Grand Canyon, Arizona
It's hard to get good pictures of the Grand Canyon due to atmospheric effects. I always shoot with a UV filter, but it generally isn't enough when photographing such epic distances. I've applied a few filters here, but the effects came out well.
Grand Canyon
Another picture of the Grand Canyon. Similar filtering applied as the previous image. Pretty cool vistas.
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
I don't recall which area this was taken in, but it's a very neat thing to see the root system connecting each of these trees. This is a common thing and some interesting research has gone into how these plants can actually communicate with each other.
Silly Rory
A friend of mine posing in a tree that doesn't at all look like it would support him. Fun camping shenanigans.
Brutus
I've had many dogs in my life, and here is Brutus looking regal. Captured in Snowflake, AZ where I used to live.
Brutus Running
Great Danes are just floppy beasts. Here is my goofy boy running towards me.
Lumberjacking
I'm in white with the ear muffs on. Those chainsaws aren't particularly loud, but after hours of use, they get to be. You can see my favorite dog in the background, Zoe. We logged firewood in the White Mountains near Clay Springs, AZ to heat our house in Snowflake, AZ during the winter and colder months. I miss doing these logging trips. Lots of camping and work.
Aaron and Steve - Logging - White Mountains, Arizona
Two of my best friends in the whole world out logging in the White Mountains of Arizona. I miss going on these camping/logging adventures.
Great Plains of South Dakota
This image was taken in one of the remotest areas during my survey work with the USFWS. There were areas where the only human structure you can see, even with binoculars, is the two track road leading through the grassland. It's amazing to be so isolated.
Death Valley - Notch-leaf Phacelia
Notch-leaf phacelia, Phacelia crenulata photographed in Death Valley. Not a whole lot of life occurs in this area. This flower stood out amid barren rock and heat.

Alligator Juniper - White Mountains, Arizona
When firewood logging we came across a lot of this hardwood juniper tree. They don't grow anywhere except in Arizona and parts of New Mexico. A really neat tight grained colorful wood. I really want to make furniture out of it.
North Dakota Sun Beams
While travelling along a North Dakota highway, I saw this and had to stop for a picture. Sunbeams were pretty common on cloudy days on the prairie.
