Zion is a really amazing park. It offers up many different ecosystems depending on what elevation you are at. We hiked into some gorgeous areas with this being one of them.
While at Zion NP, you can get to some really neat areas where the water is flowing over the top of you. This is the case here. The sun is blowing out some of the mountain details, but the water drops look stunning framed by such beauty.
Some enormously tall canyons zigzag through Capitol Reef National Park in Southern Utah. Lots of interesting hiking here, and even Fremont Petroglyphs. My buddy is hiking in front of me for scale.
I don’t recall which area this was taken in, but it’s a very neat thing to see the root system connecting each of these trees. This is a common thing and some interesting research has gone into how these plants can actually communicate with each other.
Notch-leaf phacelia, Phacelia crenulata photographed in Death Valley. Not a whole lot of life occurs in this area. This flower stood out amid barren rock and heat.
When firewood logging we came across a lot of this hardwood juniper tree. They don’t grow anywhere except in Arizona and parts of New Mexico. A really neat tight grained colorful wood. I really want to make furniture out of it.
